Our Story
La Casa Grande Coffee Hacienda is a restored 19th century building that was conceived as a Coffee Hacienda and today functions as a testimony to Medellin's history and idiosyncrasy. The building itself, one of the few surviving two-story rammed earth structures of it's era, is an architectural icon of the New Granada with high ceilings, spacious rooms, and slanted balconies for the sun-drying of the coffee beans. This building and the objects within it have been well preserved, and many of the original fixtures, furniture, and art objects are displayed throughout the building. This property has witnessed the many historic transformations of the region and has served an iconic center for various communities.
